If it turns out that Bogart and Bergman were of the hebishkeitsreich, that will certainly add insult to injury. It would however also explain a lot. I know a woman who, though very PC on the surface level, has very aryan instincts, and she can't stand to even look at Bogart. This would go far toward an explanation at a primal level.

I have never watched this movie all the way through, though it is on TV all the time, and I have never believed one moment of any of the scenes I have seen. I love Ingrid Bergman and enjoy Bogie in other movies, so I think there is wrong with this movie. In real life, Bogart is supposed to have been a WASP, haha, I don't think so. I would guess he is of Portuguese Jewish descent. Ingrid Bergman has some Jewish blood.

Let's not forget that Bogey, after going to Capitol Hill to face-off HUAC, complained that the communists, "Played us for fools," or something very like that. I think he was talking about the Hollywood connection to Willie Munzenberg and/or Stalin's JAC. If we could only list the pre- and very post-War Hollywood movies produced and directed by people sympathetic to showing the Germans as monsters, so as to "allow" AMericans to feel they were in it to 'fight the good fight,' a fight that was always postulated as the Righteous versus Fascism, or, to slide sideways, the Communists versus Fascism. Munzenberg was very sly, and although not Jewish, he gleefully slaved away for Uncle Joe in propaganda venues in US, UK, and W. Europe. He or his people infiltrated Hollywood just as other Stalinistas infiltrated Oak Ridge.
Before I forget, and I hope this isn't a stupid question, was Ingrid Bergman Jewish? Bogart, I believe, was. And so was his second wife, Betty Persky (Lauren Bacall). What about the producers of Casa Blanca? Where did they get their money? I never liked the movie: too disjointed for me, and I although Bogey was great, as ever, Bergman is a hambone- all big-boned, fatty around the edges, and just sitting there, waiting to get skewered, in the metaphysical sense, of course.

Shotgun -- yes, Ingrid Bergman is one of the great beauties of the century -- and a heart as black as coal.

Yes, you are on to something. Remember of course this is fiction. There is a lot of history to unpack afresh.

Well, I have to admit that I'm ashamed for having missed this movie for so long. It is truly a classic!

Ilsa Lund was beautiful; proving that white women don't need the whorish make-up and disgusting botox that many have been pressured into accepting.

Additionally, while your account would have the producers stoned to death in the middle of Hollywood square, the movie itself would be "shockingly out of place" in a modern high-school setting. "Teacher, Teacher...how come Humphrey Bogart is scared of going to a concentration camp? He's not a Jew, so what does he have to worry about?"

I'm still trying to purge myself of the garbage fed to me in public school so I'm not sure how this statement will sound, but: I would rather live in the Nazi Germany (as portrayed in Casablanca) than I would in today's America! Just imagine...instead of Baptist Pastors being beaten and tazed (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YUzd7G875Hc&feature=channel) the authorities would politely ask us to report to the prefect's office, (and fully expect us to honor our word!)

I wonder how many suspected "terrorists" would be treated with such respect in territories that the US current occupies? (Hold on fellas, let me cash in my chips first will ya? Sure...no problem...just make it quick ok?)

All in all, I can thank First Word for once again broadening my horizons.

Shotgun -- Like Frank Sinatra and the opera Carmen, this one seems to be generation-spanning. But also, remember, old folks were once young.

Be sure to report back when you have seen it!

This is what I always thought of as an "Old Folk's Movie."

Though, because I highly respect Mr. TJH, (and because it's raining outside...) I might just buy a nice Cohiba, kick back, and watch "Casablanca" this evening. (That way, there will only be six people left who haven't seen it!)

(I MIGHT even listen to some opra afterwards...but that's pushing it...)
